The past two months have been the sales season for peaches produced in China, mainly honey peaches and yellow peaches.
Jiangsu is a significant production area for honey peaches. This year, the supply has increased, and the taste is better than last year, but the price is not as good as expected. Xinyi Junze Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., which grows and sells peaches in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, reports that the number of people involved in peach planting and sales has increased this year, leading to a supply increase of about 20%-30% compared to last year. Mr. Mao Junze from the company said, "The number of merchants selling peaches in places like the Guangzhou Jiangnan Fruit Market has almost doubled compared to last year, and the overall sales situation is better."
"However," Mr. Mao continued, "despite the increase in quantity and sales volume, the price is not ideal. The current purchase price of honey peaches at the origin is about ¥8-10 per kilo, which is 15%-30% lower than last year. Many peach farmers have cut down peach trees and planted other fruits because they failed to get a good price."
Mr. Mao mentioned the frequent extreme weather this year has affected peach sales. "Unlike last year's rainfall in the production area, this year's production area is dry, while the sales area is rainy. The sweetness of peaches this season has increased and the taste is ideal, but the main peach sales areas such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai have continued to rain, affecting sales."
It is reported that the Baifeng Honey Peach produced in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, will be on the market on July 5. Currently, the yield and taste are ideal. However, due to the low market conditions for peaches recently, the price of Baifeng Honey Peach is estimated to be lower than last year.
