Naranjasyfrutas.com shares report on search trends for the citrus season 2023/2024

"The first searches for varieties such as Iwasaki, Clemenrubi, Arrufatina or Okitsu are already being registered"

"The aim of the report published by Naranjasyfrutas.com is to share with the sector the data obtained from the more than 100,000 annual visits to our platform, where thousands of growers' crops are published free of charge, and where many businesses are currently looking for available crops in order to buy them. We believe that these data, which reveal the trends on the most sought after varieties by businesses and the most advertised varieties by growers, could be of interest to the sector," says Juan Jose Bas, the platform's manager.

The following conclusions have been drawn from this report for the 2023/2024 citrus season:

Oranges

  • The number of crops published by growers has increased by 9.35% and crop searches by retailers have increased by 21.56% compared to the previous season.
  • The 3 most sought after varieties by retailers are the Navelina, Navel Lane Late and Valencia Late.
  • The 3 varieties offered by producers with the highest growth have been the Valencia Late, Navel Powel and Navel Lane Late, but the 3 varieties with the highest growth in the percentage of searches by retailers were the Navel Lane Late, Navel Foyos and M7.

Mandarins

  • Crops offered by growers have recorded a 10.04% growth, while crop searches by retailers have fallen by 33.15% compared to the previous season.
  • The 3 most sought after varieties by retailers are the Clemenules, Clemenvilla and Tango.
Worthy of note is the trend observed in the 2023/2024 season with regard to the 3 varieties offered by producers with the highest percentage growth, which are the Clemenvilla, Tango and Nadorcott.
  • And we must also highlight the 3 varieties with the highest percentage growth in terms of searches by retailers, which were the Orogrande, Arrufatina and Murina.

For both mandarins and oranges, the volumes of the most advertised crops range between 10,000 and 50,000 kg, but those that have recorded the greatest increases this season range between 5,000 and 10,000 kg.

"The first searches for varieties such as Iwasaki, Clemenrubi, Arrufatina, Okitsu, etc. have already been registered on the platform in July. For this reason, it is important that growers advertise or update their crop data free of charge, so that they can be easily found by retailers."
