In Ukraine, prices for white cabbage have started to decrease. According to the daily monitoring data from EastFruit, there is a trend of price reduction in this segment due to low demand for the product.
Farmers themselves attribute this to the weather conditions affecting the quality of medium-grade cabbage. In response, they are offering discounts to buyers to expedite the sale of subpar produce. Currently, Ukrainian farms are willing to supply white cabbage at prices ranging from 17 to 24 UAH per kilogram ($0.41 to $0.58 per kg), which is on average 13% lower than at the end of the previous working week.
It's worth noting that since mid-July of this year, white cabbage has gradually become more expensive on the domestic market in Ukraine. This increase was linked to insufficient supply from local producers, who cited hot and dry weather conditions prevailing across most of Ukraine until the end of the second month of summer.
Despite the price reductions, white cabbage in Ukraine is currently being sold at an average of 3.8 times higher than in the same period last year.
