The supply of fresh herbs has been good. "We haven't had any disruptions in the last month or so so things are looking good," says Philipp Harlov, VP sales and marketing for Infinite Herbs.
Right now, fresh herbs are coming from a few regions including domestically, Florida, New Jersey, and Basil specifically from Hawaii. On imports, herbs are coming from Colombia and Mexico. "Right now Cilantro and Parsley have been growing particularly well and we're getting into our fall season so Rosemary, Sage, and Thyme are going to yield some great-looking product. Just in time for Thanksgiving," says Harlov.

Return to fall buying patterns
As for demand, it softens somewhat in the summer in both retail and foodservice. "It's because people are either growing at home or buying locally at farmer's markets while institutions such as schools and universities have shut down for the summer and aren't pulling as much product," says Harlov. "Though we do start to see an uptick in demand in the first few weeks of September."
All of this is leaving pricing on par with this time last year. "We don't expect any significant increases down the line. Prices are pretty steady," says Harlov.
