"We will ship 200 trucks filled with avocados from Morocco"

The Moroccan avocado campaign is expected to start in week 38/39 for green skin varieties, and week 43 for Hass. Barring any climatic accident, volumes will take a giant step forward with an unprecedented volume. According to Youssef Elkhlifi, from Avonature, this volume will be around 80 thousand tonnes, or 33% more than last season.

Elkhlifi says, "From our visits to the main production areas in Larache, Moulay Bousselhem, Kenitra, and elsewhere, I can confidently say that volumes will evolve considerably. Quality will also be improved, with a higher abundance of large sizes than last season. At Avonature, quality is paramount to us, and we value it more than volume forecasts. We're delighted to announce that we'll be participating in the next campaign by selecting only the best fruit and will ship 200 trucks filled with avocados from Morocco."

"Our prospects for next season remain conditional on the absence of the storms that marked last season when violent winds knocked the fruit off the trees. In any case, like last season, we will not be packing fallen fruit, and will be focusing above all on quality," continues Elkhlifi.

"We put a great deal of effort into valorizing avocado production in Morocco, drawing on our long-standing expertise in Spain," says Elkhlifi. "Through frequent visits by our experts during the development phase, we assisted several growers with farming operations and technical follow-up and built up a trusted network to supply our markets."

In terms of markets, the grower expects the same trends as last season, with the bulk of volumes pulled by Spain and the Netherlands. He explains, "We are also developing new markets and will be present at Fruit Attraction in Madrid to meet new requests."

"At Avonature, we also import avocados into Morocco in the off-season, throughout the year. This year we imported 15 containers of avocados from Peru and Brazil, and are also developing our position in the local Moroccan market," concludes Elkhlifi.
