Andalusian almonds will be shipped to China by Almensur

The Andalusian cooperative Almendrera del Sur Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza has obtained official authorization from the Chinese Government to export almonds after a long and demanding evaluation process. Almensur has thus managed to gain access to the great Chinese market, the largest and one of the most desirable for companies from all over the world. The authorization process started a year ago and has required formal procedures with the Spanish Ministries of Health and Agriculture, audits, certifications, inspections of the production processes and various visits to the members' farms and the cooperative's facilities.

Almensur's Manager Juan Carlos Gallego expressed his satisfaction about the granting of this authorization. "It's a historic achievement and a unique opportunity for growth and development, and it is motivating us to continue working along these lines." The head of the cooperative recalled that not many companies manage to meet all the requirements imposed by the Chinese government to enter this market, and said that the cooperative is the third company in the sector in Spain to obtain this authorization.

"This shows that we are doing things right. It's a reward for our effort and excellence in all areas, as well as a recognition of the quality of the almonds produced in Spain, especially in Andalusia," he says, adding that "now it's just a matter of making a name for ourselves and promoting our almonds in a new market full of opportunities."

Almendrera del Sur Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza was founded in 1977 in Malaga, and its main activity is the handling and marketing of almonds and nuts obtained by the members on their farms. It has around 5,000 members across Andalusia and currently exports more than 70% of its total production, particularly to Central Europe, the UK, France, Italy, the Middle East and North America.
