Carrot prices see a surge in Ukraine

According to EastFruit analysts, a spike in trading activity has led to an uptick in carrot prices within Ukraine. The scarcity of root vegetables, attributed to seasonal fluctuations, is cited as the primary catalyst for this price increase. Presently, producers in major cultivation areas are marketing premium carrots at rates ranging from 12-16 UAH/kg ($0.29-0.39/kg), marking an average increase of 32% from the previous week's figures. This escalation in prices is linked to a notable dip in carrot availability during the off-season, with the inventory of mid-season varieties depleted and the late-season harvest yet to commence.

In comparison to the same period last year, the cost for high-quality carrots has more than doubled, with the current rate being approximately 2.2 times higher. Additionally, there is a possibility of further price adjustments, contingent on the sustained momentum in sales.
