The Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de AndalucÃa published a report on the region's greenhouse crops' phenological status between September 9 and 15.
In Almeria, new plantations of various vegetables have been carried out. Most of the California peppers were in the growth, fruit set, and fattening stages. The earliest green, red, and yellow varieties were already being harvested. Trellising and the release of biological control organisms were carried out. Lamuyo peppers were in the early stages of cultivation, while Italian peppers were still being planted. Producers were finishing planting tomatoes and they were starting to harvest the earliest varieties. There were flower abortion issues in some greenhouses due to high temperatures. Eggplant and zucchini transplants continued. Some early plantings were already being harvested. Most cucumber greenhouses were already planted and producers focused on the trellising of young plants.
In Cadiz, producers were carrying out the last harvest of some watermelon plots. Outdoor Italian peppers continued to be harvested with good yields. Producers began planting zucchini, cucumbers, and peppers.
In Granada, in the region of La Costa, specifically in the Itrabo-MolvÃzar-Salobreña areas, greenhouse producers were conducting soil preparation tasks, applying peat and irrigation every 15 days.
In Huelva, the first extra-early strawberry varieties started to be planted with an irrigation endowment of 75%. The Fortuna, Rociera, Victory and Marisma varieties are some of the most commonly used. The most advanced raspberry greenhouses were in the flowering-budding phase. The blueberry plantations were irrigated with calcium nitrate, magnesium nitrate, and monoammonium phosphate.
