Volume represents current week, and prices represent open (spot) market sales by first handlers on product of generally good quality and condition unless otherwise stated and may include promotional allowances or other incentives. The charts provide graphic representation of the volume and prices of the major commodities this week based on seasonal volume.
Avocado
Avocado movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to remain about the same. There was no harvest on Monday, September due to Mexico Independence Day. . Movement from South District California is expected to decrease seasonally. Trading is moderate.
Cucumber
Cucumber movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California is expected to increase. Supplies of large are light. Trading is moderate. Prices of large are much higher, others are slightly higher. Quality and condition are variable. Most present shipments are from prior bookings and/or previous commitments. Movement of Mexico crossings through Texas are expected to increase. Trading early was active, late is moderate. Prices of medium are lower, large are slightly lower. Quality and condition are variable. Movement from Western and Central New York is expected remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices are unchanged. Movement from Mexico crossings through Nogales, Arizona is expected to increase seasonally from the Sonoran growing regions. Current supplies are insufficient and in too few hands to establish a market. Quality is generally good. Most present shipments are from prior bookings and/or previous commitments. The first F.O.B. report is expected to be issued the week of October 6. Movement from Michigan is expected to decrease seasonally. Trading of medium are active at slightly lower prices; cartons are active. Prices of medium are slightly lower; cartons are generally unchanged. Harvest in Georgia is a little delayed due to cooler than normal temperatures, averaging 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and moderate rainfall. However, growers expect to begin harvest the week of September 22. Quality is expected to be generally good. The first F.O.B. report is expected to be issued by September 27.
Green bell pepper
Green bell pepper movement from San Joaquin Valley, California is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate with most present shipments delivered against prior bookings and/or previous commitments. Prices are generally unchanged. Quality generally good. Movement from Michigan is expected to remain the same. Trading is fairly active. Prices are slightly higher. Quality is generally good. Movement from Western North Carolina is expected to increase. Trading is moderate. Prices are generally unchanged. Harvest from South Georgia is expected to begin the week of September 29. Quality is expected to be generally good, and yields are expected to be healthy as temperatures are cooler than usual, averaging 79 degrees Fahrenheit, with moderate rainfall. The first F.O.B. report is expected to be issued the week of October 6.
Tomato
Tomato movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to increase. Trading early was active, late is moderate. Prices of 2- layer are slightly lower, cartons are generally unchanged. Quality is generally good. Movement from Central District California is expected to decrease slightly. However, supplies are plentiful. Trading is moderate. Prices of extra-large are generally unchanged, large are slightly higher, and medium are slightly lower. Quality is generally good. Movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California is expected to increase slightly. Trading early was active, late is moderate. Prices are slightly lower. Quality is generally good. Movement from Alabama is expected to slightly decrease. Trading is fairly slow. Prices of Vine Ripes are lower, Mature Greens are generally unchanged. Extra services are included. Quality is generally good. Movement from Western North Carolina is expected to increase. Trading is moderate. Prices are generally unchanged.
Blueberry
Blueberry movement of Peru imports, mostly via boat entering through ports of Miami, Philadelphia and New York areas is expected to increase seasonally. Trading is active. Prices are slightly higher. Quality is good. Movement from Oregon and Washington is expected to decrease seasonally. Trading is moderate. Prices are higher. Quality is variable. Movement from British Columbia, Canada crossings through Northwest Washington is expected to decrease seasonally. Canada One flats 12 6-ounce and 12 1-pint cups with lids medium-large supplies are insufficient and in too few hands to establish a market. Movement from Michigan is expected to decrease seasonally as supplies are in too few hands to establish a market.
