The Port of Rotterdam reports that the first Brazilian melons have arrived at the harbor. "Last week, we proudly received the Wild Peony, carrying no less than 2,088 pallets of melons below deck and 567 pallets in 27 containers on deck. Next week, we will welcome the Baltic Pearl, which will unload 2,408 pallets of melons from below deck. With the European season coming to an end, we can officially say that the Brazilian melon season is now open."
The melons reach supermarket shelves within 14 days of harvest, thanks to the direct connection between Natal and Rotterdam. "This season, we expect double the volume of the past two seasons, with a total of about 50,000 pallets of melons and mangoes in containers."
