Uzbekistan to implement fruit and vegetable producer rating system

Uzbekistan has introduced new reforms to boost its agricultural sector, as outlined in a recent presidential decree. Key changes include the creation of a new Agro-industry development agency and a State Fund to support horticulture, greenhouses, and winemaking.

In October 2024, a phased financing system was launched to help farmers establish industrial orchards and vineyards, offering concessional loans for land preparation, planting, irrigation, and maintenance. Additionally, from 2025, land tax on unused or inefficient orchards will triple, encouraging better land use practices.

A new "fruit and vegetable producer rating system" will also roll out in December 2024. This system is designed to boost the reputation of farming enterprises and support processing and export companies. It will incentivize producers to improve the quality of their products, enhancing their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
