expoSE & expoDirekt from November 20 to 21 in Karlsruhe

Trade fair duo expects over 420 exhibitors from 13 countries

Over 420 exhibitors from 13 countries are expected at the expoSE & expoDirekt trade fair duo from 20 to 21 November 2024 at Messe Karlsruhe. The 28th expoSE - Europe's leading trade fair for asparagus and berry production - and the 13th expoDirekt - Germany's largest trade fair for agricultural direct marketing - will present numerous innovations and proven products on around 25,000 square metres. The trade fairs are organised by the Verband Süddeutscher Spargel- und Erdbeeranbauer e. V. (VSSE), the Association of South German Asparagus and Strawberry Growers.

"Our trade fair duo is the largest platform for leading suppliers in Europe to present new varieties, technical innovations and products for increasing and securing yields. Innovation drivers are weather extremes, labour shortages and higher production costs due to the rising minimum wage, as well as alternatives to pesticides and sustainability. For the first time, we will be organising the Stone Fruit Forum as part of expoSE, as many asparagus and berry growers are increasingly also producing and marketing cherries and plums," Simon Schumacher explains, VSSE Board Spokesman and organiser of the trade fair duo.

Innovations for production and direct agricultural marketing
Among the more than 50 first-time exhibitors at expoSE are ALM - Adelhelm Landtechnik Maschinenbau, Boix Europe, Calpeda Pumpen Vertrieb, Carraro Traktoren Vertrieb, GEGE Machinebouw, Klasmann-Deilmann, Kubota, Lommers Tuinbouwmachines, Schur Pack and VOS-EVE Techniek. For the first time, expoDirekt will be welcoming Fruchtwerker, NatureCard, SELA Teigwarengeräte, Simply POS Vertrieb and Xibee, among others.

New mulch and tunnel films, new machines and optimisations for soil cultivation, innovative technology for growing berries in substrates, more efficient application of beneficial insects, energy savings and alternative energy sources, new asparagus, strawberry, and berry varieties as well as many innovations and creative solutions relating to efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings can be found at expoSE.

A wide range of innovative purchasing and payment systems and vending machines for farm shops and direct marketers will be on show at expoDirekt, providing a good overview. Attractive additional products for the farm shop such as a range of regional Asian noodles, pumpkin chocolate nougat, regionally grown, roasted, and salted peanuts from Franconia, strawberry and asparagus topping and asparagus spice, non-alcoholic drinks such as apple Secco Rosé, white mulled wine, and hot baked apple can be tasted at the trade fair.

Specialist presentations at the asparagus day, the berry technology forum, the stone fruit forum and the direct marketer forum round off the extensive programme.

The new Stone Fruit Forum 'Varieties | Trends | Technology' offers specialist presentations on cherries and plums on the first day of the fair. Recognised experts will present and explain new trends in varieties, crop management, and cultivation techniques.

The 35th Asparagus Day on the first day of the trade fair will offer specialist presentations on the topics of asparagus replanting, increase of the asparagus and bean fly, the profitability of asparagus cultivation and ways to reduce the use of pesticides in asparagus cultivation. It will also provide insights into the cultivation and marketing of green asparagus in the south of Spain and provide up-to-date information from the world of asparagus in a short format.

On the second day of the trade fair, the 2nd Berry Technology Forum will deal with the topics of data-controlled cultivation for better plant growth and energy savings, harvest forecasts for planning reliability, strawberry harvesting using robots, switching from soil cultivation to cultivation in the gutter and data-supported irrigation.

In cooperation with VSSE e.V., the trade magazine HOFdirekt will be organising the Direct Marketer Forum on both days of the trade fair at the HOFdirekt stand in Hall 1, G02. On the first day of the trade fair, specialist presentations will be offered on the topic of "Smart shopping - digital store solutions without staff" and on the second day of the trade fair regarding "Brand Building".
