Representatives from Bikurei Sadeh, a premier logistics entity from Israel, recently made a trip to Tbilisi to explore potential collaborations with Georgia for the importation of fruits and vegetables. The firm is currently evaluating Georgia's agricultural capabilities and has engaged in discussions with various Georgian parliamentary bodies including the Agrarian Affairs Committee and the Friendship Group with the Israeli Knesset. These talks have centered on potential trade cooperation and the exchange of startup knowledge.
Ilan Sheva, the director and founder of Bikurei Sadeh, mentioned the intention to establish a Georgian department within the company to assess the agricultural prospects and growing seasons in Georgia. A preliminary team comprising representatives from Bikurei Sadeh, Neumann Group, and Agro G.I has been assembled for this purpose.
The Georgian parliamentary representatives, including Gela Samkharauli and Givi Mikanadze, have pledged support to local entrepreneurs and farmers to ensure their products align with Israeli market standards. This initiative follows discussions with the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and other key stakeholders about diversifying Israel's import sources, especially in light of halted imports from Turkey. The recent data highlighted that Israel imported over 225,000 tons of fruits and vegetables last year, with Jordan contributing to 20% of these imports. The potential for Georgia to serve as an alternative source will be a focal point at the upcoming business forum in Tbilisi, organized by the Israel-Georgia Chamber of Business and Israeli House.
