Kaki Ribera del Xúquer PDO starts the season by refreshing its Persimon brand to increase sales

The Persimon® brand, the only kaki in the world with a protected designation of origin, is starting the season by renewing its brand image to increase its international presence. The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, participated in an event that kicked off the campaign to collect this unique, Mediterranean, and exotic fruit that has already conquered consumers' palates in more than 40 countries. Kaki Ribera del Xúquer PDO (Valencia) is a producer and exporter of this fruit, synonymous with autumn, accounting for more than 54% of the cultivated area and 6,800 associated producers.

"We expect similar volumes to last season," stated Cirilo Arnandis, president of the PDO. "In general, sizes will be somewhat smaller sizes due to the weather conditions this last year, as there was hardly any rain. In addition, we're also trying to deal with the difficulties derived from the pests, which continue to cause problems and pose a threat to this emblematic crop of the Ribera Alta region," he said. "There's no better-quality-kaki than the Persimon® brand. Furthermore, we are the market leader and the world's leading marketer of this fruit, 93% of which is produced in the Valencian Community," he added.

"Kaki Ribera del Xúquer PDO is an engine of job and wealth creation," Mazón stated. He also stressed that the Valencian Regional Government will continue to fight for the demands of the Valencian agricultural sector, promising to demand new trade agreements in Europe and controls in non-EU countries that cause unfair competition.

Miguel Barrachina, Minister of Agriculture, Water, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Generalitat Valenciana; M.ª Àngels Ramon-Llin, General Director of Agriculture; Andreu Salom, Mayor of l'Alcúdia, and a large representation of the Valencian agricultural sector also attended this campaign kickoff ceremony.

The Persimon® brand was launched in 1998 and it's renewing its image this season so consumers can immediately recognize it at the point of sale. The PDO will promote its product with an ambitious campaign that, over the next 3 years, will receive 2.1 million euros in funds from a European Promotion Program.

In addition, the Regulatory Council is also involved in two new European projects for 2025 that will carry out promotional actions in Brazil, Canada, and France, with a global investment of more than 3 million euros.
