Iran's tomato exports reach $207 million in six months

The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has disclosed that Iran's tomato exports amounted to $207 million in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-September 21). This report comes alongside a broader increase in the country's agricultural product exports, which saw a 26 percent rise in value compared to the same period last year.

During this timeframe, Iran exported 3.2 million tons of agricultural commodities, totaling $1.7 billion in value, marking a 20 percent increase in volume year over year. The preceding Iranian calendar year, ending March 19, witnessed a 22.5 percent increase in the export value of agricultural and foodstuff products, as stated by Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade. Iranian producers managed to export approximately $6.3 billion worth of these products during that year.

Agro-food products comprised 12.8 percent of Iran's total non-oil exports in the previous year. Iraq emerged as the leading importer of Iran's agro-food products, accounting for 31.5 percent of the total exports in this category, with purchases worth $1.986 billion. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia followed, importing $751 million and $521.5 million worth of products, respectively. The overall value of Iran's foreign trade, including oil and technical engineering services, reached $153.17.8 billion in the last Iranian calendar year.
