Pomegranate harvest ongoing in Turkmenistan's Makhumkuli

In Turkmenistan, farmers in the Makhumkuli district of the Balkan region are currently engaged in the harvest of pomegranates, one of the region's most renowned and environmentally friendly agricultural products.

Local growers are also busy collecting other fruits, including apples, pears, plums, peaches, and grapes. Pomegranates from the Sumbar Valley are particularly noted for their variety, with many strains developed by local breeders. Some wild pomegranate trees along mountain streams are even listed in the Red Book of Endangered Species.

The pomegranate harvest season in this subtropical region extends until the end of November. Each tree yields between 20 and 70 kilograms of fruit, with some pomegranates weighing up to 500–600 grams.

Pomegranates, known as "Beautiful Sumbar Pomegranates," have gained popularity not only within the country but also in international markets.
