The National Durian Industry Summit, set to convene in Davao City, aims to fortify the Philippines' stance in the international durian market. Organized by the Durian Industry Association of Davao City, the City Agriculturist's Office, and the Department of Agriculture, this two-day summit seeks to consolidate farmers, traders, and experts to propel the durian sector forward.
With presentations from esteemed speakers, including those from Malaysia and Thailand, the summit will tackle quality enhancement and market opportunities for the Philippine durian industry. "Our plenary speakers will share valuable insights and experience, offering a roadmap to unlock the full potential of the Philippines' durian industry," noted the organizers in a social media announcement.
Highlighting the event's focus, Fe Oguio, the City Agriculturist's Office's durian and cacao focal person, emphasized the aim to elevate Davao City's durian quality. Despite the local product's commendable quality, achieving the highest grades remains a goal. The summit is envisioned as a critical discussion forum for industry growth, addressing quality, and exploring the integration of smart agriculture technologies.
Additionally, financial entities will be present to facilitate connections between the durian industry stakeholders and potential financial partners, further supporting the sector's development.
