In October 2024, the Vietnam Farmers' Union acknowledged 63 cooperatives across the country for their exceptional performance, with the Tuy Loan Safe Vegetable Production and Consumption Cooperative from Da Nang being among the honorees. This distinction serves as a catalyst for the cooperative to further enhance production, product quality, and contribute to the agricultural and rural advancement of the region.
Originating as the Tuy Loan Vegetable Club in 2002, the cooperative was officially formed in 2011 through a collaboration between the Hoa Phong Commune Farmers' Union, the People's Committee, and the Da Nang's Cooperative Alliance. It now boasts 40 members and operates over an 8-hectare area. The cooperative's efforts have significantly impacted the local economy, lifting members out of poverty and stabilizing incomes.
Director Nguyen Van Tan highlighted the cooperative's role in securing market access for farmers' produce, offering consistent employment to 60 local workers, and supplying over 500 tonnes of vegetables annually to various outlets. Their success is attributed to focusing on safe, organic agriculture that adheres to VietGAP standards and exploring agricultural tourism, which attracts thousands of visitors each year.
The cooperative's achievements in enhancing production and business activities have been recognized with awards from central and local authorities, including a certificate of merit from the Da Nang People's Committee and an excellent emulation flag from the Viet Nam Cooperative Alliance. The cooperative aims to continue its growth, particularly in high-tech hydroponic vegetable farming and traditional craft village experiences.
