This week, EastFruit analysts have noted a downward trend in white cabbage prices in Ukraine, attributing the decline to market oversupply, particularly of mid-late varieties unsuitable for extended storage. Prices are currently ranging from 15 to 23 UAH/kg ($0.36-0.56/kg), marking a 16% decrease from last week's figures. The price variance is tied to the quality diversity of the produce available.
With most farms still in the harvesting phase, the market is experiencing a supply influx, while demand remains notably subdued. Wholesale entities and retail chains are limiting their purchases, pointing to the perishability of the predominantly low-quality cabbage available. Despite the current downward price trajectory, it's highlighted that prices are still 2.9 times higher compared to the same timeframe last year. Market insiders anticipate potential further declines in price, driven by the ongoing harvest bolstered by favorable weather conditions, potentially leading to further price adjustments in response to the sales dynamic.
