What does it look like inside a fruit and vegetable warehouse? Since 2022, the Axfood Group in Sweden has had its large warehouse for fruit, vegetables and flowers in Landskrona, which is operated by Dagab. Goods arrive here from nearby regions and the rest of the world to be sorted, packed and distributed to stores within the Axfood family. In total, about 250,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables are sold in the warehouse – every year.
But why is the warehouse located in Landskrona?
"Much of Swedish fruit and vegetables are grown in Skåne and in the neighbouring regions. About 80 percent of all the fruit and vegetables we sell are from here. The rest, which come from Europe and the rest of the world, come in either by boat or by truck through one of the bridges or ferries," says Daniel Månsson, site manager and category area manager for fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Watch the film to hear Daniel Månsson talk more about the warehouse, how they work to make fruit and vegetables affordable for the consumer and initiatives to reduce food waste.(note that the video audio is only in Swedish).
