A family farm located in Ancaster, Hamilton, known as Lindley's Farm & Market, has revealed plans to cease operations. Established over 180 years ago at 900 Fiddlers Green Road, the farm has been a cornerstone in the community, specializing in a wide array of produce ranging from greens, strawberries, pumpkins, melons, tomatoes, and cauliflower, to fresh herbs, among others. Additionally, the farm features a market store offering homestyle baked goods, homemade preserves, community-supported agriculture boxes, and maple syrup.
Despite its longstanding presence and contributions to the Hamilton area, Lindley's Farm & Market is set to discontinue its farming and produce operations, alongside closing its market store. The decision marks the end of nearly two centuries of service. The Lindley family expressed their gratitude towards their staff, customers, and friends for their support over the years, acknowledging the challenges and rewards experienced. They also noted that, while the market will permanently close, Joe will maintain a "pick your own strawberries" operation in 2025, and the farmland will be leased out for the foreseeable future.
