The West Kazakhstan region, under the leadership of Akim Nariman Turegaliyev, is set to receive 50 billion tenge (approximately USD 106.38 million) for agricultural development in 2024. This announcement was made during a briefing at the Central Communications Service. The region, which completed its harvesting campaign, reported a yield of 300,000 tons of grain, 96,000 tons of oilseeds, 50,000 tons of potatoes, and 46,000 tons of vegetables and melons from a sown area of 616,000 hectares.
To support livestock breeding, initiatives such as the reconstruction of three main irrigation channels totaling 186 km are underway. So far, 67 km of the Akty-Aznabai-Taipak channel has been completed, with ongoing work on the remaining channels. Furthermore, the region plans to launch 38 investment projects in the agro-industrial complex between 2024 and 2026, aiming to create 870 jobs and increase production. The region also supports over 58,000 SMEs, generating products worth 1.2 trillion tenge (approximately USD 2.55 billion) and providing employment to 130,000 individuals. This year, 22 billion tenge (approximately USD 46.81 million) has been allocated to aid over 3,000 SME projects.
