In Moldova, the export of apples to the European Union has seen a notable increase, with figures reaching $ 48,309,232 in the first ten months of this year, as reported by Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Development and Digitalization Minister Dumitru Alaiba. This development marks a doubling in export value compared to the previous year. Alaiba attributes this achievement to the hard work and dedication of Moldovan farmers, alongside governmental support aimed at facilitating access to broader and more competitive markets.
The extension of trade liberalization with the EU for an additional year has been identified as a key factor in enhancing the opportunities available to local producers. The impact of these measures is evident in the growth of the EU's share in Moldova's apple exports, which surged from 0.4 per cent in 2021 to 18 per cent. This growth, according to Alaiba, not only reflects the high quality of Moldovan apples but also serves as a testament to the country's potential for excellence on the international stage.
