Weekly banana price report - week 46

Costa Rican banana prices drop by 6.65% from the previous week

This past week, wholesale banana prices have shown varying trends across different markets. For instance, Colombian bananas maintained stability with an average price of £0.837 per kilogram, reflecting no significant change from the previous week. However, Costa Rican bananas saw a slight decrease, with prices dropping from £0.991 to £0.925 per kilogram, representing a weekly reduction of £0.066 or 6.65%.

Meanwhile, other banana-producing regions such as Belize and Cameroon did not report notable changes, with prices remaining consistent. The data underscores the general stability in banana pricing, though minor fluctuations can be observed depending on the region and market conditions.

As the fresh produce market navigates seasonal shifts, it's expected that banana prices will continue to reflect these dynamics. Markets dependent on imported bananas, particularly from Central and South America, will likely keep a close watch on global supply and demand factors in the coming weeks.
