SPM Biosciences: "We received a lot of inquiries from South American customers at Fruit Attraction."

“South American mangoes are in peak season, market demand for preservatives surges”

Currently, mango supplies in North America and Europe are in the off-season, with most market shipments originating from South America. However, Brazil's mango export season has faced a rocky start due to port strikes, unreliable delivery schedules, and limited shipping space. Meanwhile, South Africa's 2024/2025 mango harvest is forecasted to decline by 10%–20% compared to the previous season. Against this backdrop, SPM Biosciences (Beijing) Inc., a supplier of mango preservatives, is actively preparing for the southern hemisphere's mango season to address these challenges.

Debby, a representative of SPM Biosciences, said many mango traders currently employ "hot water treatment" to eradicate pests and reduce spoilage, ensuring compliance with quarantine requirements in destination countries. However, this process causes mangoes to ripen faster. "Mango shipping times are already long, ranging from 20 to 45 days," Debby explained. "With the ongoing strain on global shipping capacity, including frequent delays and port congestion, arrival times are often further extended. This creates significant demands for effective mango preservation during transportation."

"After several years of testing and use, Angel Fresh has proven highly effective for mango exports via sea, extending the shelf life of mangoes by nearly 60%." As the southern hemisphere mango season is now in full swing, SPM Biosciences continues to meet the needs of traders. "We received numerous inquiries from both new and existing customers in the mango industry at the Fruit Attraction exhibition last month," Debby added.

In addition to its powder preservative designed for container shipments, SPM Biosciences has developed versatile packaging solutions to meet market demands. "We now offer small-package preservatives, such as sachets and cards, which traders can easily place inside packaging boxes to achieve the desired preservation effect," Debby explained.

SPM Biosciences (Beijing) Inc. has already obtained sales qualifications in Argentina and the Dominican Republic. The company is currently seeking sales agents in other regions to expand its global presence.
