Peruvian agricultural exports have resumed to several countries, including French Polynesia, Guinea-Bissau, Moldova, Angola, North Korea, Tanzania, Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, and Nepal. According to the Association of Exporters (ADEX), from January to October 2024, these exports reached 9.360 billion dollars, marking a 23.2% increase over the same period in 2023. The agroindustry accounted for 8.359 billion dollars of this total, showing a 20.7% rise, while primary agriculture contributed 1.001 million dollars, witnessing a 50.3% growth.
The report highlighted that blueberries were a significant driver of this growth, with sales amounting to 1.640 billion dollars and a 50.7% increase. The United States, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong were the primary destinations for these exports. Avocado and non-decaffeinated coffee also saw notable increases in sales, with the former reaching 1.234,9 million dollars and the latter 916,7 million dollars. Grapes and cocoa were also among the top exports, despite a contraction in grape sales.
Other leading agricultural products included asparagus, Wilkings mandarins, mangoes, animal feed preparations, and paprika. The United States remained the largest market for Peruvian agricultural exports, purchasing 3.024 billion dollars worth of goods, followed by the Netherlands, Spain, Chile, and Ecuador.
ADEX President Julio Pérez Alván announced a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) aimed at consolidating the sector and promoting its sustainable development. The agreement will focus on technical training, export promotion, and sustainability, aiming to include small and medium-sized farmers in the export chain through innovative strategies and technology. Pérez Alván emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration for inclusive and competitive growth in the agricultural sector.
