The global blueberry industry continues to expand, driven by increasing per capita consumption worldwide. Projections indicate significant opportunities for further growth, with no signs of slowing down. For the Peruvian blueberry industry, the current campaign has not only exceeded expectations but also signals a full recovery in production levels.
Progress of the Peruvian campaign
Peru's ongoing blueberry campaign is on track to surpass last season's figures, reflecting a longer harvest period and higher volumes. By week 48, the country had exported 245,625 tons of blueberries, representing 63% of the total shipped during the 2023/2024 season and aligning perfectly with October projections.
- Conventional Fruit: 217,301 tons, a 61% increase over the previous season and 1% above the recent forecast.
- Organic Fruit: 28,325 tons, a 74% increase over the previous campaign but 5% below projections.
In week 48 alone, 12,819 tons were exported, a 66% rise compared to the same week last season but 12% below the last projection.
