Results of Hurricane Milton agricultural impacts assessment to be announced

Later this week, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Economic Impact Analysis Program director Christa Court will present the results of an Economic Impact Analysis Program (EIAP) report on Hurricane Milton. The report is based on responses to surveys agricultural producers filled out following the hurricane, a Category 3 storm that came ashore near Siesta Key on Oct. 9. The EIAP team's report reveals an early picture of how agriculture in Florida was affected by the hurricane.

Christa Court will present the results of an Economic Impact Analysis Program (EIAP) report on Hurricane Milton.

Producers were asked to assess and share the damages and agricultural losses they experienced due to the storm. Based on this information, EIAP economists determined which areas of the state were most impacted and calculated the estimated financial burden to the industry.

In addition to outlining the survey results, Court will answer questions from members of the media.

The press conference takes place Friday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. EST via Zoom. (Registration is required)
