Software helps Santa Catarina farmers optimize banana fertilization

High-yield banana plantations in Santa Catarina, Brazil, rely on precise nutritional management, necessitating soil fertility and plant nutritional status monitoring. Epagri supports local growers with AdubaBanana 1.0 software, available for free download from the technical folder. This tool, developed by Epagri's Experimental Stations in Urussanga and Itajaí, complements existing tables and manuals for liming and fertilization recommendations.

The technology facilitates banana plantation management by automating soil and leaf tissue analysis interpretation, aiding in precise corrective and fertilizer dose recommendations. This approach aims to reduce financial costs and enhance orchard sustainability.

Initially, users input soil analysis and production data, selecting fertilization recommendations for planting and formation of orchard production and maintenance. The Liming tab enables limestone recommendations via the SMP index method or base saturation criterion. The Fertilization tab allows users to calculate fertilizer quantities, define installment plans, and estimate action costs.

The software includes a fertilization calendar, displaying fertilization times and recommended fertilizer amounts post-planting date entry. Users can store customized reports and issue reports. The program also offers a screen for interpreting leaf analysis and a fertigram to identify nutritional deficiencies or excesses. Auxiliary files with mineral and organic fertilizer data are provided, allowing users to update cost values and modify the fertilizer list.
