Cape Town container terminal to halt operations due to strong winds

Operations at the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) are anticipated to pause over the weekend of February 15-16 due to forecasted strong winds. The Danish carrier, Maersk, stated, "We expect no operations to happen in the Cape Town Container Terminal (CTCT) over this period."

The vessel Santa Teresa, currently docked, will be affected, with expected delays for its European schedule. Maersk mentioned, "We will maintain the best possible transit time into Europe once it [Santa Teresa] sails (subject to weather en route)."

Efforts are underway to align container stacks in response to these stoppages. Maersk has indicated plans for uninterrupted service in South Africa and Europe in the weeks ahead. Further details on contingency plans will be shared once finalized.
