There are currently 25 models of agricultural machines in production and shipped to many continents by BFM Italy, an Italian company that designs and builds safe, state-of-the-art automatic inter-row solutions for weed control and pruning in orchards and vineyards.

"Every year we export more than 30 machines to the US alone, a thriving market that accounts for around 20% of our sales. We started to explore the US market in 2010 and then sales gradually intensified thanks to the loyalty of our American customers. We take care of the logistics down to the last detail, with the shipment leaving from the port of Genoa. After about 45 days at sea, the cargo arrives at the port of San Francisco. Our target companies are large and in any case not smaller than 50 hectares."

Not only inter-row tillers and weeders but also flail mowers and defoliators under the BFM Italy brand are exported to the United States. "American companies prefer simple machines with few electronics and good durability," says Bertoluzzo. "Our main customers are located mainly in California and Washington. The most purchased machines are those used for intensive cultivation, as growers need to optimize time and costs. In addition to vineyards, our customers use these machines in apple, pear, cherry, plum, and other stone fruit orchards," he says.
The DB12 double inter-row mower with mechanical rotation continues to be the most popular machine on this continent, as it is well suited to a wide range of row widths (from 180 to 250 cm). It guarantees a clean cut without damaging the trunk. The leveling disk brushes the ground, which makes it ideal for the cleaning and cutting of grass in vineyards and orchards. The headstock tilts up to +/- 30° to work on trunks and hilly terrain for maximum versatility.
