The upcoming Moldovan cherry season should have a satisfactory production, says Stefan Pislaru, sales manager for Moldovan cherry exporter StarAgro Group: "Our Moldovan cherry season typically runs from late May to early July. Of course, exact dates can vary slightly depending on seasonal weather conditions, which we monitor closely to ensure optimal harvest quality. While weather variability is always a factor, we are optimistic about the upcoming season. Thanks to ongoing investments in advanced cultivation techniques and rigorous quality controls, we expect this season to deliver both robust production volumes and consistently high-quality cherries."
Pislaru feels that the Moldovan cherries are getting more popular in the European markets. "Moldovan cherries stand out due to their balance of sweetness and acidity, firm texture, and vibrant color. Grown under ideal conditions with a strong commitment to sustainable practices, our cherries offer a flavor profile. We currently export our cherries to several key markets, including the United Kingdom and various European countries, such as Germany, France, and the Benelux region. Additionally, we are actively exploring opportunities to further expand our global presence."
According to Pislaru, cherry production in Moldova has seen a yearly increase, thanks to multiple factors: "Over the past few years, we have seen steady growth in our production volumes. On average, there has been a 10 per cent increase every season. This positive trend is driven by our continuous improvements in modern farming practices, and expansion of our orchard areas while maintaining our commitment to sustainability."
"Looking ahead, our strategic goals include expanding our production capacity to meet growing global demand, while simultaneously strengthening and diversifying our export markets. We'll also continue to invest further in agricultural techniques," Pislaru concludes.
