Enza Zaden Innovation Center open for visitors

Three years ago, Enza Zaden proudly announced the opening of its new Pijnacker Innovation Center, a cutting-edge facility designed to showcase the company's latest advancements in our HREZ portfolio. Today, the Innovation Center keeps providing customers with a view of Enza Zaden's portfolio in tomatoes.

Innovation and sustainability
The Pijnacker Innovation Center features a greenhouse where approximately 300 tomato varieties are cultivated, including those with advanced hybrid lighting systems (90 mmol HPS and 120 mmol LED). The greenhouse is designed to save energy, achieving a 40% reduction compared to a standard greenhouse, thanks to double glass with ventilation tubes below the gutters.

The Innovation Center plays a crucial role in the ongoing development and improvement of Enza Zaden's HREZ varieties. By providing a practical space for testing and gathering data on how these varieties perform, the center helps breeders refine and enhance the varieties to meet customer needs and industry challenges.

See, taste, and experience
Customers visiting the Pijnacker Innovation Center will have the opportunity to see, taste, and learn about Enza Zaden's newest developments in tomatoes as well as discuss the latest market trends, challenges, and opportunities in the industry.

Frank van Antwerpen, Product Manager at Enza Zaden, emphasizes the value of the HREZ portfolio: "Our Innovation Center offers customers a unique opportunity to experience our tomato varieties firsthand, providing real insights into their performance and market potential."

He continues, "Visitors can get a closer look at some of our HREZ's top tomato varieties, such as Shivious - known for its consistent quality and strong growth - or Fraser Paradise - one of the tastiest truss cherry tomatoes available - as well as discovering new promising varieties as EZ 3250, a fine truss tomato with exceptional traits, including great shelf life and taste, and EZ 3536, a 'sunstream' type tomato that offers excellent flavor and long shelf life".
