Anthony De Ieso - Thorndon Park Produce

"We are in the middle of a drought and have had many patches of extreme heat waves"

In November Anthony De Ieso from Thorndon Park Produce expanded his rosemary production by about a quarter of a hectare. This was done to fill any gaps in supply.

"The new rosemary is doing very well the land is producing a decent crop and we can cut from that patch any time now, however, we will try not to touch it until later in the year to allow it to "bush" out more."

Anthony grows a variety of crops on 36 hectares of land. "Spinach would roughly be 20% of our weekly sales, this is a crop that we grow year-round.

Growing conditions have not been the best, we are in the middle of a drought and have had many patches of extreme heat waves, so it has been a bit rough, to say the least."

"There is always a steady demand for spinach. Our South Aussie spinach is different from the other states, and we find that we always have a steady number that we work towards each week."

The spinach is sold in bunches or in a plastic sleeve like a bunch of flowers.
