Emergent Cold LatAm has inaugurated its first cold storage facility built from the ground up in Mexico as part of its broader investment plan in the country. The facility, located in Ciénega de Flores in the Monterrey region, has a storage capacity of 23,000 pallets, equivalent to approximately 23,000 tons of food, within a 150,000 m³ space.
The construction is part of the company's expansion in Mexico and is expected to generate around 80 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs, contributing to the local and national economy.
According to Juan Pablo Benítez, Managing Director for Mexico, the facility aims to meet the increasing demand from food producers and retailers by providing storage and distribution services in a strategically located facility with access to transportation networks. He also noted that demand in Nuevo León and across the country has led to expansions in Apodaca and Villagrán (Guanajuato) and an ongoing project in Guadalajara, Jalisco.
Emergent Cold LatAm entered the Mexican market in September 2022 with its first acquisition and currently operates 35 multi-temperature warehouses in Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Baja California, Estado de México, and Mexico City.
David Palfenier, President of Emergent Cold LatAm, stated that the new facility in Monterrey is intended to support food and retail industries with temperature-controlled storage. He also emphasized the company's focus on investing in new facilities and modernizing existing warehouses to expand cold chain infrastructure in Latin America and key urban centers across the region.
