Strawberry prices in Ukraine: imports, costs, and local season start

Strawberries are available in Ukraine year-round due to imports from warmer countries. However, early spring prices remain high.

In early March, most strawberries on the market come from Greece, with larger shipments expected in April.

Prices in supermarkets range from €2.85 to €9.55 per kilogram, depending on the store and packaging. Wholesale markets in Kyiv and Lviv offer strawberries at €6.90 to €8.30 per kilogram.

The first local strawberries are expected in May, starting with greenhouse-grown berries from Ternopil, Chernivtsi, and Zakarpattia regions. Open-field strawberries will follow in mid-May, with peak season in June.

Last year, early-season prices were €3.20-4.00 per kilogram, gradually decreasing to €1.30 per kilogram as the season progressed. Forecasts for this year remain uncertain.
