First South African lemons arrive in Singapore

Kwek Global, a Singapore import and export company has recently received the first shipments of South African lemons of the new season.

Hong Chew Kwek, Managing Director said that the first shipment from South Africa looked good as far as quality was concerned.

"We import one to two loads a week from South Africa when the season gets going. We import on average 100 containers of lemons per year from different origins including China, Egypt, South Africa, and Turkey. Quality has been good from China and Egypt this season. South Africa has just started exporting and the quality for the first shipment looks ok."

Mr Kwek says that demand from wholesale, retail, and food service in Singapore is consistent. The company imports from China, Egypt, South Africa, Italy, Serbia, Australia, and Morocco at the moment, bringing in grapes, citrus, apples, melon, berries, and pomegranates. Kwek Global supplies wholesale and supermarket chains in Singapore.
