New mandarin varieties to be tested in Batken in 2025

In 2025, the Department for Agricultural Crop and Horticulture Expertise, under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry of Kyrgyzstan, plans to conduct trials of new mandarin varieties (citrus fruits) in the Batken region. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture's press service.

Cold-resistant seedlings will be imported from Turkey for the trials.

The upcoming trials aim to assess the adaptability of the Turkish mandarin varieties to the climatic conditions of the Batken region, their resistance to low temperatures, and their potential yield.

If the trials are successful, there will be an opportunity to establish production at certain volumes, which will help diversify the range of local products available in the country's domestic market.
