Kyrgyzstan strengthens phytosanitary inspection of imported fruit and vegetables

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has announced the implementation of stricter phytosanitary measures on the import of high-risk agricultural products, including potatoes, vegetables, and fruits. The move is aimed at preventing the introduction of quarantine pests into the country.

According to the ministry, enhanced controls will be enforced both at customs borders and within the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Importers are urged to take these new requirements into account when supplying quarantine-regulated goods.

These measures follow the "Unified quarantine phytosanitary requirements for quarantine products and objects on the customs border and territory of the Eurasian Economic Union," which were approved by Decision No. 157 of the Eurasian Economic Commission on November 30, 2016.
