Donald Trump has 'great meeting' with Alibaba boss Jack Ma

On January 9th, US President-elect, Donald Trump, met Jack Ma, founder of the e-commerce site Alibaba in New York. They discussed the opportunities of creating 1 million jobs in the US by selling the products of American entrepreneurs' to Chinese consumers.

According to Ma's plan, Alibaba, the e-commerce platform worth 230 billion US dollars, can help US entrepreneurs and farmers sell their products to the Chinese middle classes. "In China we have around 300 million middle class consumers, and 4,600 billion US dollars' of savings. There is a strong demand for American quality products which will surely create more business opportunities."

Jack Ma said after the meeting that both parties have reached an agreement to further strengthen the relationship between the US and China.

The meeting was criticized by some, as the newly elected US president has said that China has manipulated currency and employment in the world, and has threatened trade tariffs.

Alibaba was listed on the US stock market in 2014, which raised 25 billion US dollars, making it the largest IPO on record. After their meeting in the Trump Tower, Mr. Trump told the journalists that Jack Ma is a "great entrepreneur, and we are going to do some great things together."
