NL: Koppert Biological Systems at Floriade 2012
What makes the bumblebee so valuable for horticulture? What are all these minuscule creatures doing in the greenhouses? And what does it all mean for the food that ends up on your plate? These are all questions that are answered during a visit to the Floriade. The world exhibition runs from 5 April to 7 October 2012 inclusive. In five different worlds, symbolising 'the theatre of nature,' visitors can get acquainted with the many sides of the horticultural sector.
In these worlds, Koppert makes it clear in a variety of ways why biological crop protection and natural pollination are so important in the horticultural sector. With exhibitions in the House of Taste and Bloomin' Holland as well as demonstrating the use of biological crop protection at Villa Flora. The company has also been allocated a spot on the Rabo Earthwalk, as one of the 'glocalizers,' companies with courage, ambition as well as a global story to tell.
Koppert has supplied sustainable solutions for professional horticulture and agriculture for many years. The use of biological beneficials and natural pollination is now widespread among today's Dutch vegetable growers, and is gaining ground in the rest of the world, as well. The use of chemicals is declining steadily as a result, which is better for our food and environment as well as making sustainable horticulture possible. It's a message that deserves to be heard.
The new consumer website www.secretagentsinhorticulture.com created by offers unique and easily accessible information about biological crop protection and natural pollination and links up with the Floriade, the World Horticultural Expo, which opened last Thursday.
The website, with its attractive graphics, contains information for young and old about the various aspects of biological crop protection and natural pollination. Explanations are given on how natural enemies work, what bumblebees do in greenhouses and why soil life is so important. In the Kids section, the information has been specially adapted to make it accessible and interesting for children.
The website will remain online once the Floriade has drawn to a close. Due to the international character of the World Horticultural Expo, the website is also available in Dutch and German language versions.
