US (CA): Storm caused $20 million damage and rising

A storm that ripped through Central California last month has caused damage worth $20 million to crops in Kings County.

Other counties are still counting the cost to their production. The storm damaged kiwifruit, cherry, apricot, peach, plum and nectarines.

Kings County grower John Tos says he lost about 90 percent of his peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes, apricots and cherries.

Kings County deputy agriculture commissioner Steve Schweizer says the county plans to request disaster assistance.
