"Sunsweet enjoys strong market awareness and loyal customer base"
The company is well established, commencing operations in 1926 as the importing arm of the food brokerage company W. K. King and becoming its own entity in 1980.
As well as overseeing the successful launches of many local brands, Grocery Corporation and Strikeforce Alliance have a history of marketing international brands, including Diamond walnuts and Sunsweet products.
Jenelle Trisic, Grocery Corporation's brand manager for Sunsweet discusses the company's successes with the brand.
"Sunsweet has been on the Australian market for 14 years, launching with a single prune SKU in 1999. The brand is distributed throughout Australia including the 2 major grocery chains, Cole and Woolworths as well as Metcash serviced independent retailers."
Jenelle says the flagship products from the range are Sunsweet pitted prunes (preservative free) 200g and Sunsweet pitted prunes 340g and 500g. Additionally though Grocery Corporation also distribute the recently released Sunsweet pitted prune snack pack, which contains 8 packs of a size ideal for inclusion in kid's lunchboxes.
"We also distribute Sunsweet mango 170g and the Sunsweet Mango Snack Pack, which is ideal for both kid's lunchboxes and adult snacking.
"A very unique product to the category is Sunsweet Plum Amazins, diced prunes. This product is not available via our competitors and is great for snacking and baking. Sunsweet prune juice is also distributed."
Jenelle says the range is very popular with Australian consumers and is ranked amongst the country's premium brands.
"Sunsweet is a very successful brand in the Australian market and has continued to show growth in both the flagship categories and in newly released product lines.
"There is strong awareness of the brand and a loyal customer base - Sunsweet is the number 2 brand in the Australian market."
