Aviv's fresh Black Bursa fig season starts

Aviv Corporation, an exporter of fresh produce, has recently started shipping their first loads of Black Bursa figs. Black Bursa, a highly-sought-after fresh Turkish fig variety, is also grown in Israel in competitive commercial volumes; its season starts in the middle of July and runs all the way to the end of August.

Black Bursa Figs is one of the few varieties grown specifically for the fresh produce market. In addition to its popularity among regular fresh produce consumers and figs enthusiast alike, its large fruit size (average weight ranging from 83-55 grams), along with an exceptionally-rich eating quality, ability to travel and store well, drives this variety to the top of the fresh figs list satisfactorily among both the retail and foodservice segments.

Aviv has successfully received and shipped its first loads of Bursa figs around the world this past week, in part by having a considerable volume of the larger size fruits available right from the start. Furthermore, Aviv’s order-processing, quality control, and shipping procedures allows for the longest possible shelf life. It also takes great care to pack the Black Bursa figs, using the company’s eye-catching red and green design 1 kg cartons, with an insert-tray that nest each fruit individually for added protection during travel.
