The Cameroonian Minister of Agriculture, Essimi Menye, has launched a project to support agriculture organizations (PADFA) in Maroua, the central northern part of Cameroon, according to the newspaper Cameroon Tribune of Friday, August 2.
It concerns a project of about 12 billion Euros by FCFA of which 77.4% comes from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), 14.1% from the Cameroonian government and 8.5% from donors. The project, which runs until 2017, focuses on the efficiency of production, particularly rice and onions.
The project not only targets economic strategy, but also the formation of cooperatives of farmers and production chain at various levels. The aim is to improve the sales methods, the storage conditions and the market for the products.
PADFA focuses on four regions in Cameroon.
