Magali Silva, head of Mincetur:
"China is more than willing to lift restrictions on Peruvian avocados"
"The Chinese health authorities are more than willing to lift restrictions on the export of Peruvian avocados," said the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Magali Silva.
Silva said she had been able to meet with the Chinese equivalent to the Peruvian National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA) when she attended the Expo China in July.
"There is a better disposition, we know that there is a Chinese mission coming to Peru and there is also a better disposition at the political to accelerate the process so that Peruvian avocados can enter that market," she declared.
She also stated that Juan Manuel Benites, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, would be travelling to China in September in order to accelerate the process, "as the quality of the Peruvian product is well known."
The head of Mincetur said that opening the Chinese market for pomegranates and blueberries was a task that is still pending.
