Avocado distributor teams up with brewery

The 2nd annual Avocado Festival was a celebration of all things Avocados. The highlight was of course the now famous Avocado Ale, brewed with Fresh locally–sourced Avocados. Green Earth Produce donated Fresh Avocados along with other consumer-targeted promotional materials. In addition, there was food trucks serving dishes highlighting Fresh Avocados as well as an Avocado-inspired art show.
Gahl Crane, Managing Director at Green Earth Produce, was operating the booth along with other staff from Green Earth Produce.

Gahl stated that “We had a lot of enthusiastic folks interested in all aspects of the Avocado. We provided participates nutritional information about avocados as well Avocado Slicers, recipe booklets, stickers and other promotional materials. In addition we spoke to participants about growing Avocados in California and around the world and the many different and creative uses of Fresh Avocados ” Gahl added, “Angel City Brewery is a great partner of ours right here in Southern California and we really enjoy working with them. A majority of the proceeds from the event went to the non-profit Food Forward which helps feed the hungry. We are always happy to help an event that helps those who are in need.”

Green Earth Produce was joined by several other Avocado-themed food companies at the event as well. Among them were a local bakery that uses exclusively Avocados instead of butter in their cupcakes, a company selling Avocado-infused Popsicles, and a clothing company who plants an Avocado tree in Southern California with every purchase of item.

The Avocado beer itself was a light-bodied, crisp refreshing Ale brewed with cilantro, crushed red pepper, lime, and of course fresh Avocados. Festival attendees and the entire Green Earth staff all agreed: it was delicious. While beer may not be the most common use for Avocados, the message of the festival was simply to celebrate the Avocado.

Gahl added, “Avocados are such a versatile product and the inspiration people get from this wonderful superfood is so crucial in growing demand and consumption at both retail and foodservice levels”
