India to start importing Moldovan vegetables

Ion Sula, Director General of Moldova's National Agency for Food Safety, met with Kishor S. Jaia, chief executive of Baboobhai Patel & Co. Mumbai, India, a company operating in the former Soviet space since the 50's of the 20th century in various economic areas (production, trade, export-import).

Jaia announced India's intention to import Moldovan vegetable and travelled to Moldova to identify potential partners. The company represented by Mr. Kishor S. Jaia is interested in importing both fruits (apples, plums, peaches) and Moldovan wines.

Ion Sula informed Jaia about the phytosanitary certificates issued by the Agency for overseas importers of fruit and vegetables. The Agency Director also announced its intention to inform the Indian authorities about the types of certificates and procedures to ensure the food safety of exported products.

Indian entrepreneurs will consequently be able to sign commercial agreements with local partners, ensuring the necessary volumes of fruit for export, and our producers will be provided with new markets. In the same context, Ion Sula stressed the importance of diversifying markets for Moldovan products and establishing long-term business relationships with businesses in India.
