The signing of a protocol between Mexico and China will allow national berry producers to export up to $100 million dollars produce to China in the next 3 to 4 years.
Mario Steta, president of the National Association of Berry Exporters (Aneberries), predicted that, in the coming years, the Chinese market would account for 5 to 10 percent of total exports of these fruits. The health protocol that will allow the export of blackberry and raspberry to China will be signed on 13 November.
A Chinese delegation will visit Mexican producers
The president of Aneberries said that, in addition to signing the treaty, they would launch a promotion campaign in China with a Chinese delegation visiting producing regions in Mexico before commencing exports.
Mexican blackberry and raspberry will enter the Chinese territory with a tariff of about 25 percent.
