LuLu adds new hypermarket in Kuwait

UAE-based LuLu has announced the opening of its newest store in Kuwait, underlining its commitment to its expansion plans for 2015, despite the low oil price and concerns about the region’s economic outlook. The store is LuLu’s fifth in Kuwait and its 113th overall and sees it open an additional 11,150 sq. m in selling space, with a specific focus on a fresh food section comprising fruit, vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish and hot and cold ready-to-eat food.

The retailer, noting the global trend, and one identified in ‘Five trends to watch in the Middle East in 2015’, for health-oriented foods has added an exclusive section for ‘free from’ foods, with a wide range of imported lines being made available to shoppers. At the opening LuLu’s managing director, Yusuf Ali, said that expansion in Kuwait would continue in 2016, with new stores set to be opened in Al Jahra and in Fahaheel, an area of the Al Ahmadi Governorate of Kuwait.
